The basic PDU is mainly used for power distribution of cabinet-level equipment, providing power and protection for different devices such as switches, servers, and storage devices. The standards for plugs and sockets in different countries and regions are not uniform, and the power of devices varies. PDU can provide personalized customization solutions based on different needs, which can perfectly solve this problem.
Socket module standards cover more than 20 countries and regions, and the current and voltage of the socket module comply with the corresponding standards;
The conductive shrapnel of the socket module is made of high-quality phosphor bronze, which has strong conductivity, good elasticity, is not easy to heat up, and has a service life of more than 15,000 times of plugging and unplugging;
PDU product protection functions include overload, overvoltage, lightning protection, leakage and other multiple protections, which are safer;
The electrical equipment in the cabinet is high-power equipment such as servers, with large currents, and the PDU requires greater current carrying capacity;
The product supports rack-mounted horizontal installation and vertical installation, and only needs two screws to fix it.
The core differences between the two lie in load capacity and safety, mainly in the following aspects: 1) PDU uses industrial-grade copper material. The maximum current of PDU can reach 32A+, and the maximum power can reach 40kW, while the power of ordinary power strips ≤10A generally does not exceed 2500W. 2) PDU is designed in a modular way, and the functional modules can be customized according to the user's needs. 3) The maximum number of sockets in a PDU can exceed 20. 4) The PDU supports both horizontal and vertical installation on 19-inch cabinets.
1) Determination of power size. 2) Socket standards and quantities. 3) Plug and cable selection. 4) Function selection of PDU. 5) Installation method of PDU: For cabinets with 8 ports or less and a depth of no more than 800mm, choose horizontal installation, which occupies 1U of rack space. Cabinets with more than 8 ports and a depth of ≥1000mm are generally installed vertically and do not occupy rack space.
The total current of the PDU is determined by the total power of all the devices in the cabinet. Therefore, it is necessary to first count the number of devices in the cabinet and the power value of each device to calculate the total power. Then, according to the formula P=UI, divide the total power by the working voltage to convert it into current. Finally, by reserving a 30% power margin, the minimum operating current of the PDU is obtained.
After calculating the power of the entire cabinet and the maximum working current of the PDU, select the appropriate cable diameter based on the current size. The common cable specifications for KILOAMP PDUs include: 1) 10A, 1.5mm²; 2) 16A: 2.5mm²; 3) 25A: 4.0mm²; 4) 32A: 6.0mm².
The socket modules of KILOAMP's PDU mainly include over 20 global mainstream socket standards such as IEC/NEMA/DIN/ BS1363, which can meet the needs of most countries and regions' data center projects. All sockets and functional modules of KILOAMP are designed in a modular way, supporting the mixed installation of multiple sockets for personalized customization.
